Terms of Service

Clear expectations for using BoxCue.

These terms apply to the BoxCue public website, private household application, and installed progressive web app.

Effective and last updated: July 30, 2026

1. Agreement and beta status

By creating an account, accepting a household invitation, or using BoxCue, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

BoxCue is currently a private beta. Features, capacity, availability, and data structures may change while the service is qualified. Beta access may be limited or withdrawn. BoxCue is not currently offering a paid subscription or selling physical labels through the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. BoxCue is intended for personal and household organization, not for children or unsupervised minor accounts.

3. Accounts and households

Provide accurate account information, keep credentials and devices secure, and promptly update your email address. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless caused by BoxCue’s failure to protect the service.

A household is a shared workspace. Owners control invitations, roles, and household deletion. Invite only trusted people and understand that household members may view or change shared inventory. Do not access or attempt to join a household without authorization.

4. Permission to use BoxCue

BoxCue grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the service for lawful household inventory, organization, storage, and moving activities. BoxCue and its licensors retain all rights in the application, brand, design, software, and documentation.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of inventory, notes, photos, addresses, and other content you submit. You give BoxCue permission to host, process, reproduce, resize, transmit, and display that content only as needed to provide, secure, and support the service for you and authorized household members.

You must have the right to upload content and share it with household members. Do not upload unlawful material, malware, another person’s confidential information without permission, or content that infringes another person’s rights.

6. Acceptable use

Do not misuse BoxCue, interfere with its operation, evade access controls, probe another household, automate excessive requests, reverse engineer except where law permits, use labels to deceive people, or use the service for illegal, dangerous, abusive, or rights-infringing activity.

7. QR labels and physical security

QR labels are identifiers, not locks or proof of ownership. Anyone may photograph, copy, remove, or damage a physical label. Private inventory still requires account authorization, but you should retire a lost label, replace a damaged label, and avoid printing private contents or precise addresses where others can read them.

You are responsible for choosing compatible label stock, printer settings, placement, adhesion, and materials. Test output before printing a full batch. BoxCue does not guarantee that every printer, camera, surface, lighting condition, or damaged label will work.

8. No location or carrier guarantee

BoxCue records Places, Transport, positions, tracking references, and status entered by household members. It does not provide GPS, carrier services, Apple Find My, RFID location, insurance, custody verification, or guaranteed real-time tracking. A recorded location may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect.

9. Not an insurance or critical-record service

BoxCue is an organization tool, not an appraisal, insurance inventory, legal record, emergency system, or guaranteed backup. Keep independent records for insurance, tax, legal, financial, safety-critical, or irreplaceable property. Verify quantities, locations, and handling instructions before relying on them.

10. Availability and third-party services

BoxCue may be unavailable because of maintenance, internet or device conditions, provider outages, security events, or changes to the beta. Some functions depend on providers such as Supabase, Vercel, Resend, Cloudflare, browser vendors, camera APIs, and printer or operating-system features. Their services may have separate terms.

Offline access is limited to an eligible, recently synchronized read-only copy. Changes, sign-in, invitations, photo uploads, and authoritative synchronization require connectivity.

11. Changes, suspension, and termination

You may stop using BoxCue at any time. Account Security provides an account-deletion flow, subject to shared-household ownership safeguards. Owners may delete a household, which removes access and inventory for its members.

BoxCue may limit, suspend, or terminate access to protect the service, comply with law, address misuse, or end the beta. When reasonably practical, BoxCue will provide notice and an opportunity to retrieve information, unless security, legal, or technical circumstances prevent it.

12. Future paid services

If BoxCue later offers subscriptions, shipped labels, or other purchases, the price, renewal, taxes, fulfillment, cancellation, and refund terms will be shown before a purchase. These Terms do not authorize BoxCue to charge you automatically.

13. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, BoxCue is provided “as is” and “as available.” BoxCue disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so they may not apply to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, BoxCue will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost inventory records, lost belongings, missed shipments, lost profits, or loss of use arising from the service. Rights and remedies that cannot legally be limited remain unaffected.

Because BoxCue is currently offered without charge as a private beta, BoxCue’s aggregate liability relating to the beta will not exceed US $100, unless applicable law requires a different result.

15. Changes to these Terms

BoxCue may update these Terms as the product or legal requirements change. The updated date will change. Material changes may also be presented in the application or by email. Continuing to use BoxCue after updated Terms take effect means you accept them, where permitted by law.

16. Questions

Questions about these Terms can be emailed to support@boxcue.app or submitted through the Support page. Applicable consumer-protection rights where you live are not waived by these Terms.
